Mitcham's Corner, Cambridge, UK
University of Cambridge- Year 3 Studio 1- 2018
Design proposal for a new centre for Jimmy's, one of Cambridge's most prominent homeless charities. The proposal is located in Mitcham's Corner, between Chesterton Road and the north bank of the River Cam. ItĀ aims to cater for the needs of the charity in supporting the homeless through a homely co-living environment that promotes social interaction.
The building honours the existing centre, an extension to an adjacent church as well as the typical Cambridge terrace typology through its brick facade and pitched roofs. The form of the building is generated from a semi-private garden space that is flanked by the two wings of the building, which is broken up along the slope between the road and river.
